We’re Going To Jail And Need Your Help!

No…we’re not really going to jail, but I’m glad that I got your attention.

Slocum Studio has recently joined the Muscular Dystrophy Association’s campaign to raise awareness (and bail money) for muscular dystrophy. That’s right, I’ll be participating in the 2012 New Bedford Metro Lock Up event. I’m going to be arrested on October 17th and sent to jail. Of course I won’t be heading to the county jail. I’ll be heading to our local Texas Roadhose where I’ll be thrown in their slammer, have my mugshot taken, and enjoy a nice lunch; all for a great cause! Sounds like a pretty sweet deal to me. I’ll get to network with local donators as well as raise awareness for muscular dystrophy.

So why am I writing this post? We need your help raising bail money so I can get out. Did you know that it costs $800 to send one child with muscular dystrophy to MDA Summer Camp for one week? We’re trying to raise at least $800 this year. If you can help us towards our goal, your donation is greatly appreciated. Visit our donation page to learn how to donate. All donations are tax deductible to the extent of the law.

About MDA

MDA is the nonprofit health agency dedicated to curing muscular dystrophy, ALS and related diseases by funding worldwide research. The Association also provides comprehensive health care and support services, advocacy and education.

MDA combats neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive medical and support services, and far-reaching professional and public health education. With national headquarters in Tucson, MDA has more than 200 local offices across the country, sponsors some 200 medical clinics and supports more than 300 research projects around the world.

MDA is the nation’s largest nongovernmental funder of scientific research seeking better treatments and cures for the more than 40 neuromuscular diseases in its program. MDA has funded the discovery of the genetic underpinnings of almost all diseases in its program — including the muscular dystrophies, spinal muscular atrophy, ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease) and several other neuromuscular diseases — and treatments based on this knowledge are being developed, with support from MDA.
