What is the Best Calendar Plugin for WordPress

The Best Calendar Plugins on WordPress

Staying organized on the web is not an easy task.

Sites can be difficult enough to navigate, and it can be even harder to display a beautiful calendar within the default WordPress setup.

This article will go over calendar plugins on the WordPress framework, what they mean for your business or blog, and which real world applications can be applied to the plugins.

Watch the video or continue reading… or both!

Why do you need a calendar plugin?

On the base level, our answer is, “If your business or organization has event management needs.”

Venues can use the plugins as a solution to dwindling concert sales with eCommerce support options.

Non-profit organizations looking for a way to organize a calendar of events have a more visually appealing interface that is accessible to everyone.

Another perfect application of a calendar plugin on the WordPress framework is a travel agency. Being able to show bookings and available travel options is always a good thing.

A great plugin for bands

For bands looking for a boost in concert traffic, having their own website may be just what the tour manager ordered.

You can make an entire page that displays upcoming concerts and the locations of said concerts.

This alleviates frustration and gives people a central landing page where they can come for concert information and stay for merchandise and album downloads.

Events Calendar Pro

Events Calendar Pro, from Modern Tribe, is our favorite of the WordPress calendar plugins because it gives quite a bit of options to the user before it takes any away.

The interface on the dashboard is easy, yet fleshed out, and allows for the scheduling of appointments by location, time, and by most every other type of event you would want.

The look and feel of the displayed calendars are clean and simple (it actually works creepily well with our Minimize theme aesthetic), and they are easy to add.

Premium Services

There is also a premium service side to Events Calendar Pro which adds WooCommerce integration to an already robust plugin. In our travels WooCommerce has always been a go-to solution for selling products on the Internet.

By purchasing the plugin, you are able to sell physical tickets to people who are visiting the website immediately. There is no need to send people to some external website or (MUCH, MUCH WORSE) Ticketmaster.

Sugar Events Calendar for the developer

While Events Calendar Pro does cost a bit of money to use its full potential, it also requires little coding (if any).

Sugar Events Calendar, from Pippin’s Plugins, is the code-heavy, yet more customizable option. It’s also a lot cheaper.

Pippin Williamson’s plugin uses WordPress gracefully by utilizing shortcodes as the primary tool to display content from the plugin.

If you want to display a calendar in a page or post, just place a shortcode in the text of said page/post. Want to show only calendar events of a certain type? Use a shortcode.

Gravity Forms on Sugar Events Calendar

Sugar Events Calendar also supports Gravity Forms, so you can create a form on the site for event opt-ins and the like.

Gravity Forms is the most popular premium contact form plugin on WordPress, so this is a nice, free addition to the existing plugin.

Events Calendars as an outreach tool

Whether you are the more experienced developer or the novice WordPress user, one of the strongest assets you have with a calendar plugin is direct outreach.

Watch this video from our popular SEO Lunch webshow on YouTube to find out a bit more.

If people are directly on your website accomplishing their goals, that is more time spent with your contact forms and blog posts. That is more money directly in your pocket and not someone else’s.

Another post is in the books… erm… calendars?
